About Melanie Raskin
An award-winning video/PR/marketing/web writer and voiceover artist since 1982, Melanie Raskin has enjoyed getting the message to audiences ranging from children to older adults, line-workers to CEOs, sales forces to consumers. Highlights of her career include a week with the Hollywood Police Department on the Sunset Strip for an educational video about blood-borne diseases, riding with a long-distance trucker for a training video, channeling her inner chicken for a commercial radio campaign selling egg bagels, and working with fitness guru Richard Simmons on a public appearance highlighting a ground-breaking exercise program for persons with disabilities.
Awards...She’s won many ITVA, MCA-I, State Government and Telly awards for her work, but the greatest reward comes from satisfied clients and a target audience that gets the message. She only works for good people with interesting projects, and always manages to have fun...in budget...on deadline.
When She's Not Working...She's served on the local, regional and international boards of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She was chapter president, 3-time ITVA Silver Reels Festival chair (International Television Association, now MCA-I) and producer of the national association's Golden Reel awards show in Philadelphia. A published short story writer, she's been the leader of the Triangle Writers Group since 1986. She volunteers with her video editor husband, Jeff, at the Carrboro Farmers' Market and her church.
